Announcements - November 27, 2016


  • During the collection week for Operation Christmas Child the church has collected 4544 shoe box gifts. Out of which, Westside brothers and sisters have donated 161 gifts. 
  • The monthly bulletin has been posted on the bulletin board. Please check it out for important information. 
  •  A special Christmas meditation retreat will be held on December 11 at the main hall. The topic is “You Will Find A Baby”. The details and sign-up sheet have been posted on the bulletin board. 
  • WBC is again hosting a charity clothing drive this year and the collection period will be from December 4-December 11. For each bag (filled up 26” x 36” garbage bag) of clothing donated we will receive $2.5 from Big Brother. Net proceeds will be equally donated to Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and Union Gospel Mission. 
  • Lost and found items in the kitchen will be donated for the clothing drive fundraiser event. Please claim your lost items before December 11. 
  • The church will sing Christmas carols at the Marine Gateway Mall on December 18 between 2pm and 4pm. Members of WBC who are interested to join singing, please contact Pastor Alan. Congregation can also invite friends and relatives to enjoy the singing. 
  • Christmas Charity dinner will be held on December 18, 2016 at 6:00pm (Coordinators: Deacon Peter Cheung and Deacon Tsz-Lam Mak). The cost is $15 per adult. $8 per ages 4-10 child. Tickets booth will be set up on November 20, 27; December 4 and 11 between 11:15am – 11:45am at the main entrance. Please prepare cash or cheque if you would like to purchase the ticket. Seats are limited. Tickets sale are on a first comes first serves basis. Start to invite friends early! 
  • DONATIONS WANTED! Gifts to be sold at the Christmas Charity Auction are now being collected. We are accepting: new items of value; unique and valuable vintage items; and unused and non-expired gift certificates, gift cards, or gift vouchers (e.g. Groupons). Items should be new or in excellent condition. Please contact Pastor Alan for details before December 11. Please note that the Church reserves the right to refuse any donations, and unsold gifts will be returned to donors. Thank you for your support!

  • Members are encouraged to attend the special business meeting today at 1:00pm in order to vote. No proxy vote is permitted in this meeting. The meeting will be held right after the EM Sunday worship service in the main hall. Agenda has already posted on the bulletin board.

Summary of November 2016 Deacon Board Meeting


  • Christmas Celebration events: Clothing drive (coordinator: Maggie Leung). Christmas Charity Dinner (coordinator: Deacon Peter Cheung and Tsz-Lam Mak) will be on December 18. Dinner tickets are $15 per adult and $8 per child age 4-10. Net proceeds from all fundraiser events will be donated to Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and Union Gospel Mission evenly. 
  • Due to the complications in acquiring a permit from the City, the church will defer installing a signage at the back of the building. 
  • Hemrich Bros (downstairs’ tenant) had signed a one-year (2017) lease with the church. 
  • A joint worship service will be held on December 25 at 11am. 
  • The annual general meeting will be held on January 22, 2017.

Announcements - November 6, 2016


  • There will be a community meal scheduled on November 13 after EM service. We will be having a special luncheon and some community bonding activities. The cost is $10 per person. Please register through your SG leaders. 
  • There will be a special business meeting for all members on November 20 at 1:00pm. Agenda has been posted on the bulletin board. 
  • AWANA Matching Program needs your support! Every month at AWANA Store, we encourage the clubbers to donate the AWANA Shares they were awarded to a designated charity, in order to nurture in them a caring heart for the world and the people around us. For every Share they donate, we would like to invite donors to match with a $5 donation. If you would like to be a matching donor, please contact Pastor Alan. 
  • Operation Christmas Child empty shoe boxes will be ready for pick up today during worship service and please take note of the followings: 


    1. take the unfolded boxes on the table at the back of the hall 
    2. take a brochure (there are English & Simplified Chinese brochures for your choice) 
    3. you can also use your own box - suggested is the transparent plastic shoebox so that the child receiving it can re-use it (it can buy from Walmart, London Drug, JYSK etc) 
    4. new this year: 1) do not put candy of any kind in the shoebox; 2) there are 2 sets of 'boy/girl' labels in the English brochure, you may only need one brochure for multiple boxes 
    5.  please bring back the gift-filled shoebox on November 20
