Westside Baptist Church is hiring ONE 40 hours/week Children Summer Program Coordinator. This is a May 12 to August 28, 2015 (16 weeks) contract-based position. Eligible student participants must:

• be between 15 AND 30 YEARS OF AGE at the start of the employment;
• have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a fulltime basis in the next academic year;
• be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
• be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
• have a criminal record check completed.

Job Description:

• Planning, promoting and leading 8 weeks of full-day summer programs for children from kindergarten to grade 3, possibly with ethnic Chinese background.
• Recruiting, training and supervising volunteers for the program.

Required Skills:

• Basic computer system, office applications and internet operation
• Keyboard skills: English & Chinese
• Language: fluent in spoken and written English and Cantonese; preferably also in Mandarin
• Skills and experiences working with young children
• Good interpersonal skills and willing to work in a team
• Responsible, organized, self-motivated, willing to learn, and attention to detail

Summary of March 2015 Deacon Board Meeting

• Issues about Baptism and Transfer of Membership: 
• The prerequisite for baptism and transfer of membership is to complete WBC101. Usually it is valid for one year, and may need to retake if it was taken a long time ago. 
• The church only accept believer’s baptism (immersion or sprinkling), but not infant baptism even with confirmation. 
• Re-baptism at Westside is allowed only if the candidate is not sure about his or her first baptism but not because it is of a different mode. 
• Pastoral recommendation and retake WBC101 may be required if an inactive member need to be re-activated. 
• Newcomers’ luncheon for CM will be held right after CM worship service on April 5. 
• Easter celebrations are listed as follow: 
• April 2 8:00pm Maundy Thursday communion service. 
• April 3 1:30pm – 3pm Good Friday Meditation service for CM 3:00pm – 4:30pm; Good Friday Meditation service for EM

• The visitation team will celebrate the Chinese New Year with the residents of the Beulah Gardens Seniors homes on February 28 at 6:00pm. For those who would like to join the visitation, please contact Felix Loo.
• WBC201 is a spiritual maturity course for those who have been baptized and transferred to Westside which will be held in February 2015. Please contact Pastor Gladys if you would like to attend.
• Please send your new contact info to the church if it has been updated within the past two years.
• In 2015, the church will participate in the City’s Green Bin program for the collection of food scraps. As such, brothers and sisters are encouraged to bring home their own food scraps for disposal since the size of the green bin is limited.
