Announcements - May 17, 2015

  • Church prayer meetings are held every Sunday at 10:30am at the office. All are encouraged and welcome to attend. Worship duties list is posted on the church website. Please contact Deacon Peter, Deacon Justin or the church secretary if you are not available for the duties. Please do not make changes on your own. 
  • The special offerings of $3,170 collected on May 3 and 10 together with the church donation of $750 in reliefing Nepal Earthquake will be sent to Canadian Baptist Ministries. Thank you all for their support. 
  • Meditation Retreat will be held on May 24 between 2pm – 4pm. The topic is “Healing Life’s Wounds 1. God sees my Hurt”. Details and registration form has been posted on the bulletin board. 
  • Brothers and sisters who need to park their cars in the church parking lot during weekdays, please pre-arrange it with the church office in advance. 
  • Children Summer Camp will be held from July 6 – August 28 Monday to Friday 9:30am to 3:30pm. Registration has begun. Please read the bulletin board or browse the church website for more details.

Announcements - May 10, 2015


  • Church prayer meetings are held every Sunday at 10:30am at the office. All are encouraged and welcome to attend. 
  • Worship duties list is posted on the church website. Please contact Deacon Peter, Deacon Justin or the church secretary if you are not available for the duties. Please do not make changes on your own.  
  • Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) encourages donation in the relief of the Nepal earthquake. Special offerings will be collected today and will be the last day. Donations will be sent to CBM for distribution to Nepal. Please make cheques payable to “Westside Baptist Church” and mark “Nepal Earthquake” on the offering envelope. Donation receipts will be issued for an amount of $20 or more. These funds will be matched by the Canadian government.

Children Summer Camp - Registration Begins

Who: From children attending Preschool in September 2015 and who will reach 3 years of age by July 6, 2015 to children attending Grade 3 in September 2015.
*** Children must be toilet trained

Dates: July 6, 2015 to August 28, 2015
*** Registration is on weekly basis. Campers can sign up for 1 week up to all 8 weeks.

Time: Monday to Friday 9:30am to 3:30pm

Activities: Games, songs, story time, arts and crafts, cooking lessons, weekly field trips and many more!

Fee: $150 per week (except for week of August 4-7, which contain a statutory holiday, and the registration fee is $120).
Registration fee can be paid through cash or cheque made payable to “Westside Baptist Church.” Camper’s spot will only be reserved when both the registration form and the payment are received. There is no refund if you choose to resign from the program once the registration form and payment is submitted.

Announcements - May 3, 2015


  • We warmly welcome our guest speaker today, Rev. Jeremy Bell, who is the Executive Minister of Canadian Baptists of Western Canada. 
  • In remembrance of our Lord Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins, Holy Communion will be held today. If you have publicly declared your faith and commitment to Jesus Christ through baptism, you are invited partake in the Holy Communion with us. Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) encourages donation in the relief of the Nepal earthquake. Special offerings will be collected today and May 10.   • Baptized Members’ Profiles 
    • Calvin Cheung moved to Canada in 1998 with his family. He received Christ in August 2014. Calvin is an accountant and currently attending a small group of the English ministry. 
    • Jackson Lo moved to Canada in 1994. He received Christ in 2012. He is a Quantity Surveyor and is attending Friday night men’s group. His wife, Joe Lo, is also a member of Westside. 
    • Carbo Ngai moved to Canada in 2002 with her family. She first attended church back in 2010, but received Christ about a year ago. Carbo is self-employed and currently attending a small group of the English ministry. 
  • The anniversary BBQ luncheon will be held right after worship service. Please stay for lunch if you have purchased a ticket. Group photos will be taken right after the worship service. Everyone please stay for the photo session.

  • Those who have made an offering either by cheque or cash on April 12, please contact Monica our treasurer for clarifications.
  • There will be SG leaders and GZone coaches gathering right after service in room E.
  • WBC201 is at 2:30pm today in room E.
  • All the pastoral staffs will be attending a children ministry conference in the States this week. For urgent matters, please contact the church office.
  • May 3rd Anniversary & Baptismal service:
    • Bilingual service at 11:00am. There will be baptism and communion on that day.
    • Calvin Cheung and Carbo Ngai will be getting baptized.
    • There will be group picture with the whole congregation right after service.
    • BBQ luncheon. If you have not bought the ticket today is the last call. Go green by bringing your cutlery. In order to prepare for the BBQ luncheon, please do not park your car on the right side of the front entrance.

  • The monthly bulletin has been posted on the bulletin board and the church website. Please check out for important information. 
  • The church 23rd Anniversary joint worship and baptismal service will be held on May 3 at 11am. There will be a BBQ luncheon after the worship service. Tickets: Adult $10, Children ages 4-10 $5, ages 3 and under is free. Tickets are available with small group leaders or Deacon Justin Chen. Tickets sale deadline is April 26. 
  • The church is now hiring a Children Summer Program coordinator. Please refer to the bulletin board or the website for more detail. 
  • Soliciting business within the church is not allowed in order to avoid abusing relationships among brothers & sisters at church. 
  • The spring cleaning will be completed by the end of April. Big thanks to the small groups who have done the cleanings. Other small groups will be invited to do the cleaning in the fall. 
  • “50 Days of Transformation” church campaign will start from July 12 to September 4. The subject will be studied through sermons, Christian Education courses and small group discussions.

Summary of April Deacon Board Meeting


  • Soliciting business within the church is not allowed in order to avoid abusing relationships among brothers & sisters at church. 
  • The spring cleaning will be completed by the end of April. Big thanks to the small groups who have done the cleanings. Other small groups will be invited to do the cleaning in the fall. 
  • The fire drill on April 5, 2015 took the congregants 2 minutes 20 seconds to evacuate from the church building. 
  •  “50 Days of Transformation” church campaign will start from July 12 to September 4. The subject will be studied through sermons, Christian Education courses and small group discussions.
