Announcements - November 3, 2012

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Welcome to Westside Baptist Church! If this is your first time here, we particularly welcome you and are happy to have you worship with us! Please help us to get to know you better by filling out a guest record card and returning it to the ushers or greeters so that we may keep in touch with you. Westside would also like to invite Christians attending our services regularly to consider making Westside their spiritual home. Please contact the pastoral staff or deacons if you are interested.
  • In remembrance of our Lord Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins, Holy Communion is held on the first Saturday of each month. If you have openly declared your faith and commitment to Jesus Christ through baptism, you are invited to prepare your heart and partake in the Holy Communion with us.
  • Bulletins will not be printed for the English worship services, so church volunteers are asked to check their duties online via googledocs. A hard copy of the duty list will also be posted in the foyer. Please call the church office and speak with Roberta about any duty shift changes.
  • Need some uplifting and support through prayer? Send your prayer requests to the WBC Prayer Band Ministry via direct confidential email to our pastoral staff: prayer@westsidebaptist.ca. Unless otherwise indicated, prayer requests will be regarded in strict confidence (names are undisclosed), and submitters will not be contacted.
  • Want to witness the amazing power of prayer? Want to be a part of God's mighty works?
We are currently accepting volunteers for the WBC Prayer Band.
Come and support your family, friends, church, and community through prayer.
Please contact Pastor Anders for more information.
  • The Awana Program is on Friday evenings from 7:30pm – 9:30pm. Classes include Preschool, Kindergarten to Grade 2 and Grades 3 to 6. Online registration is still available at: www.westsideawana.blogspot.com. Middle School Awana classes are on Sundays at 11am.
  • Struggling with quadratics? Need help with an essay? Come and meet with our experienced tutors through WBC’s academic assistance program, or better known as the Homework Fellowship, for students in Grades 8-12 on Sundays 2:00pm – 5:00pm starting September 16. Drop-in fees for Grades 8-10 is $7 per visit or $20 per month. Fees for Grades 11-12 is $10 per visit or $30 per month. For details, contact Peter Cheung.
  • Don’t go home hungry! Join us for the community meal after Saturday evening worship services. Fees are $6 per person. Please contact Joyce or Shera to pre-order by Thursday each week. Our small groups meet every Saturday at 8pm after the community meal.
  • Come and get connected with one another and learn about small group life. All are welcome. Please contact Pastor Gladys if you are interested in joining a small group.
  • Church prayer meetings are held every Saturday at 5:00pm in Room F. All are encouraged and welcome to attend.
  • Don’t forget to keep filling up those shoeboxes! Westside would like to thank everyone who participated in last week’s Shoebox Packing Party for Samaritan Purse’s Operation Christmas Child. A total of 35 shoebox gifts were filled in just one night! Remember to bring back any other filled shoebox gifts by November 17 as they will be collected during worship service that evening.
  • Deaconship Election will be on November 25. Members please make time to attend.
  • The first draft of the 2013 church directory has been posted at the back of the hall. If you wish to give the church consent to publish your contact information for intra-church communication purposes, please provide a signature beside your name. Please note that your information is held strictly confidential and will not be published unless you have given your express consent. Please also note that the church directory is solely a communication tool, and must not be used for commercial purposes.
  • For those who would like to receive pre-printed offering envelopes (monthly, 12 in total), please sign up on the form at the back of the hall.
  • Fresh off the press! The 2013 Church Calendar, marked with important dates, is now available! Get your copy from one of the ushers after the worship service today.
  • Haul out the holly and mark your calendars! The WBC Annual Christmas Charity Dinner will be held on the evening of December 16 this year. This family favourite event will feature a fabulous feast, fun festivities, auction and a freewill offering for charity. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks. Also, don’t forget to clean out those closets! We will be having a charity clothing drive from November 25 to December 16. Details have been posted on the bulletin board. Net proceeds from the dinner and clothing drive will be donated to the Vancouver Food Bank and Union Gospel Mission.
