  • Christmas charity event this year raised a total of about $ 2,316.50 (auction $ 1,366, photo $ 331, table donation $ 272, clothes collection $ 347), thank you brothers and sisters and friends for their support. Net proceeds will be donated to Marpole Oakridge Family Place and United Gospel Ministry equally.
  • Brothers and sisters who have made a pledge for the Building Redevelopment fund, please specify on the offering envelope “BR Fund” when making a donation. For those who would like to support by Congregational Loan (No/Low interest), please contact the treasurer, Cannis Wan.

  • Christmas Celebration events: Clothing drive. Clothing will be collected today (last day) at storage locker #1 after worship service for half an hour (via the corridor outside room G) Christmas Charity Dinner will be held tonight at 6pm. Please bring your own dining ware. Net proceeds from all fundraiser events will be donated Marpole Oakridge Family Place and Union Gospel Mission. 
  • Apart from Charity Auction, we will have Charity Photo Booth set up for families to take pictures. Freewill offerings are welcome. Thank you for your support! 
  • Christmas Joint worship service will be held on December 22 at 11:00am. The church will use “Discord” app to broadcast the simultaneous interpretation during joint worship services. Instructions will be provided.

  • Samuel Leung has been elected as 2020-2022 deacon. The votes he received are as follow: 98 agreed, 9 abstained, 0 disagreed and 2 invalid. 
  • Christmas Celebration events: Christmas Joint worship service will be held on Dec 22 at 11am; Clothing drive (today to Dec 15). Clothing will be collected at storage locker #1 after worship service for half an hour (via the corridor outside room G) Christmas Charity Dinner will be held on December 15. There are still a small amount of tickets available with the office. Net proceeds from all fundraiser events will be donated Marpole Oakridge Family Place and Union Gospel Mission.

The polling station will be open at the following times: 9:30-10:00 am, half an hour after CM worship service and after the EM worship service until 1:30 pm. Members please vote. The candidate profile is as follows: 
    • Samuel Leung was baptized at the Burnaby Alliance Church in 2007 and transferred to Westside in 2014. He is self-employed. He currently serves as parking greeter. Previously he prepared meals for Alpha Course at the Burnaby Alliance Church. He is currently attending the small group on Friday night. His wife, Heidi, is also a member of Westside. They have a son and a daughter.

Quantities limited. $10 for a pack of four cards, with a mix of Christmas, birthday and blank, all-occasion cards. All proceeds goes to BR Fund.

Hiring Part-Time Pastoral Staff (Contract position – 1 year)

Applicants should be:

  • Theologically trained or enrolled in a program from an accredited theological school 
  • Familiar with North American Chinese culture, particularly the youth and teen’s culture 
  • Eligible to work in Canada 
  • Compatible with the theology of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada 
  • Supportive of small group ministry and other established ministries at Westside Baptist Church 
  • Able to speak fluent English, preferably bilingual (can understand and speak Cantonese) 
  • Able to frequently preach, teach, and provide pastoral care

Hiring Part-Time Pastoral Staff (Contract position – 1 year)

Applicants should be:

  • Theologically trained or enrolled in a program from an accredited theological school 
  • Familiar with North American Chinese culture, particularly the youth and teen’s culture 
  • Eligible to work in Canada 
  • Compatible with the theology of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada 
  • Supportive of small group ministry and other established ministries at Westside Baptist Church
  • Able to speak fluent English, preferably bilingual (can understand and speak Cantonese)
  • Able to frequently preach, teach, and provide pastoral care

  • The deacon board recommended restructuring the pastoral discernment committee as follow: Jason Kwok, Daisy Liu, Felix Loo, Monica Tong and Jenny Tse. Voting station will be set up to collect ballots from members today between 10:30am and 11:00am (ie, half an hour before joint worship service), and half an hour after the joint worship service. Members are encouraged to vote. 
  • There will be group photos, potluck luncheon and games right after worship service. A Charity Bubble Tea Sale will be held during the luncheon. Freewill offerings are welcome. Net proceeds will be transferred to Building Redevelopment Fund.

  • The church anniversary joint worship service will be held on May 5 at 11am. There will be a potluck and games event right after worship service. 
  • Vacation Bible School for children will be held between August 19-23. Doris Ngan is the coordinator. The program is for children of Grade 1 -5. Registration fee is $50 per child. Registration will be opened in mid April.

  • Redevelopment pledges received by the end of February totaled approx. $70,000. Congregational loan totaled approx. $178,000. 
  • Monthly Bulletin has been posted on the bulletin board and the church blog. Please check out for important announcements. 
  • Due to technical issues, the church will suspend debit card donation until a better solution is found. 
  • Small groups leaders and GZone coaches prayer meeting will be held right after worship service at Room E on March 31. 
  • Praise Team Training will be held on March 31 at 2:30pm. We encourage all praise team members to attend. 
  • A Charity Swap Meet (kids’ item only) will be held on April 13 Saturday between 10:00am-1:00pm. Net proceeds will be donated to Crisis Pregnancy Centre and Marpole Oakridge Family Place. 
  • A meditation retreat will be held on April 14, 2019 at Room G. The material written will be in English. But the verbal instruction will be in Cantonese. The topic is “Workshop on Praying more Deeply – 2) Prayer For Intimacy”. The details and sign-up sheet have been posted on the bulletin board. 
  • Good Friday Meditation & Holy Communion Worship Service will be held on April 19 at 11am. Child-sitting will not be provided. 
  • Easter Sunday Joint worship service will be held on April 21 at 11:00am. Other than FM transmitter, the church will also use “Discord” app to broadcast the simultaneous interpretation during joint worship services. Instructions will be provided.

One is responsible for youth and teens outreach ministries, and the other one will be responsible for Chinese ministries (CM). Pastor Anders has been appointed as the interim pastor effective March 1, 2019 during the seeking process.

  • A workshop on Praying more Deeply will be held today at room G. The material written will be in English. But the verbal instruction will be in Cantonese. The topic is – 1) What is Praying?”. The details and sign-up sheet have been posted on the bulletin board. 
  • A community meal will be held on February 24 right after worship service. Please sign up with the small groups leaders. $8 per person. 
  • Completed Commitment Card for the Redevelopment Project can be put into the offering bag by today. Commitment Card is available at the back of the hall. Please specify “BR Fund”on the offering envelope for the redevelopment project.
